Departure: Chief town of Saint Alban des Villards.
Description: Park in the capital of Saint Alban des Villards, behind the church. Follow the municipal road which passes in front of the Triandou inn. In front of the War Memorial, take Chemin des Charrières on the right and follow it to the top of the village. After the pile of snow pushed by the snow plow (which you will have to cross), the path is no longer paved but continues until the Croix des Charrières. At the Cross, head in the signposted direction “le Bessay”, on the path furthest to the left, which climbs steeply. Then it continues on a balcony path with a gentle slope. Continue to a pretty viewpoint, where a surprising piece of larch awaits you, elegantly placed next to a rustic bench.
Return by the same path. (If you wish to go a little further on the balcony path, do not go beyond the sign warning of the risk of avalanche. The valley of Bessay is in fact exposed to avalanches coming from the upper corridors).
