This scenic hike leads into the heart of the Combe des Roches, a preserved mountain valley of forests, streams and rich alpine flora. Along the way, discover the ruins of l’Orselle, once known as the “bear’s refuge”.
This hike explores the peaceful and unspoilt Combe des Roches, a mountain valley renowned for its rich plant life and natural beauty. Starting from the hamlet of Les Roches, the route reaches the Passerelle du Plâtre before following the stream upstream. Hikers can choose between two paths: the shaded right bank or the opposite bank, each offering a different perspective on the valley. The trail passes through woodland, open clearings and attractive mountain scenery before reaching the ruins of l’Orselle, a reminder of former human activity in this remote area. A small wooden footbridge crosses the stream and provides access to the site. The name “l’Orselle”, traditionally associated with a bear’s refuge, reflects the wild character that once defined this secluded mountain valley.
