History
Towards the end of the 6th century and the beginning of the 7th century, the Vallée des Villards seems to have been occupied by Burgundian settlers.

In the middle of the 10th century, a group of Saracens from Fraxinet, in the vicinity of present-day Saint Tropez, settled in the Alps and in the Maurienne valley. They will be dislodged towards the end of the century.

The medieval parish corresponded to the Glandon valley and consisted of the villages and hamlets of Saint-Colomban and Saint Alban des Villards. It came under both the Lords of La Chambre and the Chapter of the Cathedral of Saint Jean de Maurienne.
